Hi, my name is Megan McLean; I am going to give you some information about watersheds. A watershed can come in many different sizes. Some can be millions of square miles; some can be just a few acres. Homes, farms, ranches, forests, big towns, small cities and a lot more can make up a watershed. They collect water from the ground after it rains or snows. Watersheds can drain or seep after it rains or snows. Watersheds may take up a lot of room. It takes up room for good reasons such as; good source of drinking water. Animals and reptiles could use it as a home such as, field mice, snakes that live in a burrow, rabbits that live in a burrow and more. The limit of ground water that the watersheds have is enough to hold tons of water. A watershed can have more or less than seven hills for it to be the biggest. After it rains, the water will run down the middle and both sides of the watershed. When the water runs down the middle the dam catches the water and when the dam is full it will drain- or seep-into the land on the watershed or it will drain. When the water runs down the middle it can run down and right into your backyard. IT can even end up in your basement but getting through the cracks in the wall. Watersheds can be the most beautiful thing you have ever seen. So, if you do live by one make sure you respect it and keep it clean.
